An inexpensive tripod adapter makes low light shots easy with a smartphone. These are all of the northern rail yard in Muskegon very early on September 22, 2015. As with nearly everything for the last six months, all were shot with an LG G4.
This is from the train yard just north of downtown Muskegon near Fisherman’s Landing.
The early December morning offered a good chance to mess around with an extended exposure of the cars, tracks, and the huge light that illuminates the whole area.
It was a cold morning in Muskegon. Once the sun started to melt the frost at the river, the flora seemed even more beautiful than usual.
Got to the river just in time for sunrise this morning.
There was a fairly heavy rain on Friday night – although Susie was disappointed at the lack of thunder. Despite the quiet night, all of the water made for a great walk along the Muskegon River on Saturday morning.

This is the Muskegon River looking east from the Lakeshore Bike Trail.
Started out to that old bridge on the Muskegon River but found that the camera battery was low. Here are a few from the Northern Rail Yard before it died altogether.
The rail yard south of the Muskegon River has a wonderfully intense spotlight that illuminates the tracks. It isn’t on every morning, but when it is, it makes for a really interesting walk.

It can be tricky getting close to these early morning ice formations on the Muskegon River. If you can manage to do it without inadvertently joining a one-man “polar bear club”, they are really fun to check out.
